Services and projects / NAVAThe major objectives of the National Audio-Visual Archive (NAVA) include collecting, preserving and processing all programmes of the Hungarian public channels and the two main Hungarian commercial channels that have either been produced in Hungary or show any other kind of Hungarian relevance. These deposit copies have been stored, processed and made available by our institution since 1 January 2006.
It is one of the basic services offered by our institution to secure online availability to the above collection through NAVA points all over the country. Hungarian libraries, educational institutions, museums as well as image and sound archives can serve as such NAVA points. The programmes stored in the NAVA are accessible and retrievable via computers in the above mentioned institutions, for research and educational purposes. The institutions can choose to register themselves on the website of NAVA. Once an institution has been granted authorisation to our service, all their visitors will be allocated free access to it. A detailed list of these NAVA points is available through the homepage of the archive (www.nava.hu). In addition to the collection of deposit copies, NAVA also has special collections which are available separately. Some of these are freely available public domain and others are restricted. Former exam materials of the University of Drama, Film and Television, festival films of Mediawave, lectures delivered at Mindentudás Egyeteme (the University of Omniscience), 100 Hungarian films from the Hungarian National Film Archive in a digitalised format, Hungarian newsreels from the 1930s and 40s as well as all news programmes of the Hungarian Television produced after 1988.
